Course Code BE – Introduction to Excel – January 13 & 20, 2023; 8:30 a.m. – noon

This course teaches Excel basics: creating, opening, and editing spreadsheets. It covers fonts, font colors, font sizes, cell shading and borders, and editing techniques. Formatting of cells (different types of data), simple functions (sum and average), printing, and simple charts are also included.

Course Code IE – Intermediate Excel – February 10 & 24, 2023; 8:30 a.m. – noon

The intermediate-level Excel class covers using multiple worksheets and workbooks, advanced formatting, outlining and subtotals, and creating named ranges. It also focuses on using, sorting, and filtering lists and tables, advanced charting methods and documenting and auditing.

Course Code AE – Advanced Excel – March 10 & 17, 2023; 8:30 a.m. – noon

The advanced-level Excel class teaches using advanced functions, lookup and data tables, and advanced list management. Pivot tables and charts, exporting and importing data, various analytical options (scenarios, goal seek, and solver), and an introduction to macros are also taught.

Kent State Workforce Development Registration

Preferred Form of Payment(Required)

Classes require a minimum of 6 participants to be held. We prefer you register 1 week before the class. Payment will be processed at that time. If course is canceled, payment will be refunded.
• Courses are taught by KSU Geauga Instructors and materials are handed out at the class.
• We are now offering CEU’s. 10 hours of class = 1 CEU; offered for all KSU Non-credit continuing education courses. This will be noted on the certificate of completion when course is completed.
• On campus, in person class may require masks to be worn and social distancing. KSU policies will be sent to all enrolled and are expected to be followed.

Kent State University at Geauga offers instructor led Microsoft Courses (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access Database), QuickBooks, and Business Writing and other business related trainings to upskill your workforce. GGP coordinates classes for local companies. GGP Members receive a discount on training fees. 

You choose! All classes can be offered in the following ways: In person at your company, a Geauga location or via Zoom from your home or office.

Code BQ Basic Quickbooks: 7 hour course with Judy Paternite

This course helps users set up a business from scratch. It covers lists of accounts, customers, vendors, and employees. The course also deals with paying bills, processing payments, creating invoices, using the check register, writing checks, and entering deposits.

Code AQ  Advanced Quickbooks: 7 hour course with Judy Paternite

This course helps users set up a business from scratch. It covers lists of accounts, customers, vendors, and employees. The course also deals with paying bills, processing payments, creating invoices, using the check register, writing checks, and entering deposits.

Code AM   Mindful Leadership: “Nice to Have” or “Must Have”?: 90 minute session with Dr. Julie Evey and Dr. Luda Leontieva

We will discuss current research that addresses the value of mindfulness for business leaders and how these practices can positively impact the workplace. In addition to being able to quiet the mind and be in the moment, mindfulness applies directly to brainstorming and listening skills.  Takeaways will include a mindfulness script and a listening task for you to practice.

Code EI    Emotional Intelligence for Business: 90-minute session with Susan Mark-Sracic and Valerie Rutherford

Emotionally intelligent employees are more likely to be successful and happy at work. Learn how to use Emotional Intelligence in the workplace to improve teamwork, communication, and collaboration. Gain an understanding of the four domains of Emotional Intelligence and practice applying these concepts with real-world scenarios. Leave the workshop able to implement the skills associated with Emotional Intelligence to overcome common workplace challenges and diffuse conflict.

Code DA  Does Age Matter? – How Different Generations Function Together in the Workplace: 90 minute session with Dr. Julie Evey

For the first time in history, we have 4 to 5 generations in the same workforce.  Our beliefs about different generations can affect how we function as a team as well as how we communicate.  While we may see different working styles, we can work together productively.  This interactive talk will address generational differences, communication, and the advantages of a multi-generational workforce including practical examples and hands on exercises.

Code BC Building Curiosity: 90 minute session with Dr. Kasey Ray

Become comfortable and skilled at questioning the world around you. Take things that are familiar to you and look at them/question them as if they are new. Utilizing imaginative thought to ask and answer questions; participants are guaranteed a fun experience and reminder to ask, ‘Why do we do it that way?’

Code TI    Taking Initiative: 90 minutes session with Sue Mark-Sracic & Valerie Rutherford

Code LF Learning From Feedback: 90 minute session with Dr. Julie Evey & Sue Mark-Sracic

People often perceive feedback as personal criticism; thus, avoiding or resisting feedback. The outcome of this session is focused on taking and giving constructive feedback tied to professional, personal, and business goals. Employees should see feedback presented as a learning opportunity!
